Mentor training opportunity for female biomechanics EMCRs

The BRInC team and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Biomechanics (ANZSB) are now inviting female early or mid-career researchers in the field of biomechanics to participate in our free mentor training, specifically designed for female early or mid-career researchers. BRInC is the Biomechanics Research and Innovation Challenge, funded by the Federal Government’s AusIndustry Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship (WISE). It aims to a) grow the leadership capacity female biomechanists and b) raise awareness and participation of high school girls in biomechanics and biomedical engineering.

As part of BRInC, we are inviting female early or mid-career researchers, who are members of ANZSB, to take part in free Mentor Mindset mentoring training. Over two 90-minute-sessions, we will provide you with practical skills on how to become a successful and confident mentor – so that you can play a role in the diversity of our future STEM workforce. Our panel discussion includes eight female EMCRs from across Australia who will be sharing their personal experiences on for example, motherhood, mental health challenges and professional development.

By taking part in these interactive workshops, you will (1) develop your expertise as a STEM mentor and future leader in biomechanics and (2) gain access to an inclusive and supportive professional network of Australian and New Zealand women in biomechanics. After completing the Mentor Mindset sessions, you will be invited to express your interest to become a BRInC mentor. Mentoring high school students provides you the opportunity to attract young aspiring female biomechanics to join your university.
